Where to paddle
Stjernsund Castle
A perfect first stop for coffee and a stroll around the garden area. Join a guided tour and visit the souvenir shop.
Kärrafjärden, Åmmeberg
Continue south to this protected bay and enjoy the scenic shoreline. At the end of the bay you find Åmmeberg Golf Course with a restaurant. Treat yourself with lunch before continuing the tour.
Stora Hammarsundet
Paddle beneath the impressive bridge and experience one of the area’s landmarks from the water. You will also see the village Hammar and it’s beautiful church.
Lake Vättern Archipelago
The Lake Vättern Archipelago is famous for it’s crystal clear water and hundreds of islands. On some of them you are allowed to camp, maybe you would like to spend the night out here? We are happy to share our favourite places!

Experitur has two single and one double kayak for rent.
Single kayaks
Our Seabird Expedition are safe and stable kayaks if you are a beginner but they are still fun and nice to paddle, also for the more experienced ones. Seabird Expedition is a sea-kayak and is best used on bigger lakes. There is plenty of space for all your gear if you want to go on an overnight adventure. We have two Seabird Expedition for rent. Paddle and life west is included.
Our Point 66 double kayak takes you on an adventure around Askersund and is perfect for you who are a beginner. It’s safe and stable to paddle. The kayak will work well for a longer tours too but has limited capacity for packing.
The Nature Reserve Northern Vättern
Please note that the archipelago is a nature reserve and has specific rules regarding where you are allowed to camp! Read more about the nature reserve and see map of Lake Vättern archipelago. Don’t destroy – don’t disturb and of course bring all your garbage back from this serene area!
Canoeing, packrafting and camping
Are you mainly looking for paddling on rivers and smaller lakes, we recommend our packrafts or inflatable canoes.
If you are going on an overnight adventure we also rent tents, sleeping bags, kitchen gear and other things you might need for your tour.
In case you are going on a day trip and are aiming for the archipelago, we might be able to pick you up a bit further south, from Bastedalen or Olshammar. There will be an extra fee depending on pick up place, see below.

Kayak delivery
If you want to go kayaking in the archipelago of Lake Vättern we offer delivery and/or pick up for a fee of 400 SEK. Good starting places are Olshammar and Bastedalen. Paddle all the way from Askersund and get picked up or have both delivery and pick up. Please let us know your wishes when you book your kayak and we will do our best to organize it!
Rent kayaks in Hallsberg
Except Lake Vättern there are also many other beautiful lakes in the area, all of them offering nice kayaking and great opportunities to overnight on an island. Both Tisaren and Sottern in the municipality of Hallsberg offers great paddling opportunities with a nice mixture of open water and areas with plenty of islands.
